Patisserie Tanger in the Press – Our Archive

Explore Patisserie Tanger’s press archive, featuring reports from NRZ, EXPRESS and Rheinische Post, plus memories from our history.

Among old photographs and papers, our archive holds small records of the past: newspaper reports, a kind letter and a certificate. They remind us how many encounters can begin with a piece of pastry.

NRZ, EXPRESS and Rheinische Post have reported on Patisserie Tanger. Here we introduce the surviving clippings and what they mean to us today.

2012: a dining tip in NRZ

On 21 November 2012, NRZ published “Biss zum Glück”, a dining tip about our Moroccan pastries and their variety. It offers an early view of a patisserie with much to discover.

For us, the clipping recalls the shop’s early years. The many small tasks in the bakery can become routine; seeing someone take an interest in the display lets us look at our work afresh.

2013: Moroccan pastries in EXPRESS

On 27 June 2013, EXPRESS explored pastries from different countries under the heading “United States of Lecker”. Patisserie Tanger represented Moroccan sweets. The photograph in the surviving clipping shows Soufian Manqad with a selection of pastries.

That culinary journey reflects what we enjoy about mixed platters: comparing, sharing and finding a favourite without choosing just one speciality from the start.

Rheinische Post on Saloua and the family craft

The portrait “Süßes aus Marokko an der Ellerstraße” introduces Saloua Manqad and her patisserie. It describes how she learned the craft from her mother and chose the name Tanger because of her parents’ origins.

The article connects family knowledge with building a business. The exact publication date is not visible on the surviving copy.

A thank-you letter and a special recognition

A letter dated 25 October 2013 came from Friedrich G. Conzen, then a mayor of Düsseldorf. He thanked us for pastries presented during a visit, particularly mentioning the walnut cookies. We preserve this personal thanks as a happy memory.

On 26 March 2015, Aamana e. V. awarded Saloua Manqad – Patisserie Tanger a certificate recognising her contribution to the Moroccan community in Germany. It reflects a connection with the community; it is not a product test or quality seal.

Old stories, new moments to savour

These records mark different stages of our journey. Prices, opening hours and product ranges in old newspaper articles belong to their time. Find our current selection in the online shop, or contact us about individual wishes for celebrations.

Perhaps the next story will begin with a platter on your table.
